Interpersonal Relationships and Human-Machine Interaction of Future Communication and its Value Orientation Sharing Seminar

On 4th June, ZHOU Shen, the researcher in Dept. S&T Communication and Policy of School of Humanities and Social Sciences, USTC, shared his research on the seminar around the topic of Interpersonal Relationships and Human-Machine Interaction of Future Communication and its Value Orientation to celebrate the 20th anniversary of establishment of this department.



ZHOU explained how information technology could be applied to alleviate global public health crisis from the edge of artificial intelligence and scientific communication data. ZHOU pointed out that Communication took the advantage in risk management before epidemic, emergency management during the tackling process, as well as self-reflection, and played a key role in digital visualization, rumors recognition,control and management, social emotion and social risks supervision, intelligent calling, synthetic voice notification as well as chatting robots.



Also, ZHOU introduced symbolic computation between linguistics and non-linguistics of interpersonal relationships and human-machine interaction by some examples. He emphasized the differences between robots with human consciousness and common ones, and told students that besides mathematics, artificial intelligence was about Chinese learning. The combination of Communication and computational science has been regarded as the key to the door of Turing test.



In the end of the seminar, ZHOU analyzed the future's trend of human-machine interaction and highlighted the technical characteristics of communication as the medium, its emergence, causes, ethics and virtues.

After the seminar, all the students and teaching staff at the scene actively participated in the discussion with ZHOU. With regards to the application of traditional research methods in the background of computation of science and technology, ZHOU presented his opinions and patiently and humorously answered students's questions.
